Global Concern

There are obviously a lots of concerns all over the world nowadays, and as one of RCNUWCers, we are concerning about those problems as well. This is the reason why we have Global Concern once every term, which gives us a lot of information about problems and how to solve it and share ideas about it. Last term in Global Concern, I got to know a lot of things that I thought they were not the problems, but of course, they are and people are concerning about them.

This term, I was part of the Global Concern organizing group (It's compulsary for each of  us to do it at least once.). I had to do a lot of research. BUT not that much for me, because I was responsible for activities like quiz or case studies, not presentation. It was difficult for me since I'd never done anything like this before and I was not really useful for them, perhaps (I don't know). However, I wish I had done better than what I actually did. In the progress, it was kind of difficult because we had to do a lot of things and discuss how to make it more interesting. AND some people in my group worked until late at night just to prepare for it.

I can say that it was a very good experience for me, since it was new and I got to know something that I didn't know before. Learning to organize things in group was difficult, because each and everyone had different ideas about it, so we had to decide which one was the best.

During the Global Concern day, I was so nervous because I had to do the presentation and be responsible in part of the group. AND finally, I did it. YAY....................!!! :D I was so happy, so was my group. We did a very good job.

RCNMUN (Red Cross Nordic Model United Nation)

This had concerned me for almost a month before the real MUN came. All first years at RCNUWC had many things to do for the preparation of MUN, so did I.  We had to do researches everyday and make sure that we would know enough information and be able to talk and answer during the Committee Session. I didn't do that much research so that I was scared, worried and nervous about this MUN because I thought that I wouldn't have anything or I wouldn't have enough courage to talk in the conference.
The first day of MUN was fun; we had the regional meeting, (OHHH! I was representing Republic of Kenya, I was then an African. Interesting!) which we had the lobbying time during the meeting. During the meeting, I got to know that I was the only one from Kenya, so I had to be the ambassador and I had to do the opening speech in the Opening Ceremony. Luckily, I was ready for it. BUT I was shaking when I gave a 30-second-speech in the Auditorium. Anyhow, I did it. :D I was so happy!
First day passed, I had to prepare for the day after that day; doing the policy statements and researches took me almost all my time for sleeping.
Second day came, Committee Session came as well. Everyone in the same committee as mine looked so serious and everyone had their own point of view. Time for debating was very interesting, I learned how to do the formal debate which I'd never known before. I felt I was part of the conference since I dared to talk and give ideas, but I was still shaking all the time I gave a speech. Even though the resolution that I voted for was not passed, I was happy, enjoyed the Committee Session a lot. I had to talk in a formal way and follow all the rules set by the chairs, it was quite difficult that everyone made at least one mistake with this. However, some people made some fun during the session which made the session more interesting. We got the final resolutions before the time set so we finished debates and had a very nice talking in the group that each of us gave an opinion about the sessions. Everyone had a very nice talk and it seemed like they enjoyed the sessions a lot. So did I. WOW! 'o' During the time that all delegates were giving their opinions, the security came and said that our chairs had weapons with them and took them out to check if they had any weapons. It was funny, of course, all of us were laughing.
AND I forgot one thing to mention, during the last 10 minutes of lunch break, I was playing game in the room and other delegates were preparing for the next session, one journalist came and captured my picture playing game and then I was then in the news of MUN peggle!!! :D
Third day and also last day of MUN was the day of General Assembly. Everything, that was supposed to be like what we were told, was changed. The topic was changed and everyone was trying to find new resolutions. I was a bit confused, but then it was fine after some time. I found it interesting; everyone was serious even though some people were making fun during the conference. The whole day was about debating. After going through all the resolutions, the last one was passed but the General Assembly ended with nuclear war that US would start.
The closing ceremony was the last minutes of MUN, everyone looked tired, even the chairs. However, all of us enjoyed the last minutes of it, some people were awarded because of their best effort putting on this MUN. Although everyone was very tired, MUN ended with smiling faces from each single person! :) Me too .....
